Capital Funds Campaign

Day One Fitness has been operating from a donated space that underwent significant renovations. It was the boxers, cornermen, volunteers, and even some local businesses, who invested their time and energy into converting an unused and unmaintained building into a new, hip gym with a cool industrial vibe. While the plan was to remain in this donated space for a minimum of three years, this location will become unavailable in the near future, as plans are already underway to sell the property.

As a result of this latest development, Day One Fitness must focus on raising funds for a new facility. We are reaching out to our community and supporters, with a request to partner with us in our capital campaign, "New Beginning, New Hope, Forever Home."

New Beginning

New beginnings are what Day One Fitness is all about; Day One of the next opportunity, Day One of a new friendship, Day One of a new goal. This is an exciting time of new beginnings that affect real change in the lives of those who live with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

New Hope
New Hope

The team at Day One Fitness is dedicated to instilling hope. A PD or AD diagnosis is often devastating news, even for the most optimistic people. Faced with language like "degenerative" and "no cure," hope is hard to find. However, when people step through the doors at Day One Fitness, a visible change happens almost instantly as hope is not only found, but embraced by an entire room of boxers who refuse to quit. Symptoms are reversed before our eyes and medications are reduced or eliminated. Having a permanent building dedicated to people living with PD and AD will be a monument of hope: an investment in optimism, not just for the people diagnosed, but for their spouses, children, co-workers, and our community.

New Hope

Our new, permanent gym will include a boxing gym filled with heavy bags and a myriad of other equipment to challenge our boxers. We also envision a multipurpose room for new classes such as dance, tai chi, yoga, and more. We will have wide open spaces for people of all abilities to move around easily. Everyone will feel welcome in the all-inclusive gym, complete with meeting space for educational sessions and support group gatherings. A diagnosis of PD or AD is often seen as a before-and-after life event. People often perceive that the doors are closing on the life they had before diagnosis, but at Day One Fitness, we push those doors wide open.
